Death of Religion, Two Generations

Maybe three. We are seeing the death throes of an unsustainable lie.

Prison Population Will Continue to Grow and Show Profit

Prison labor booms in US as low-cost inmates bring billions

$60,000

Fracking fluids were dumped into the water supply for one of the most important farming areas of the country. The maximum fine? 60k. Why would that be the maximum fine? Because the industry writes the laws.
Not so Wild Ass Guess? Since these paltry fines are already figured into the profit margins, and no one ever goes to  jail, see this become a common occurrence in fracking areas near you.

Old Post From Other Blog. I Still Stand By It.

http://realitybyalex.blogspot.com/2013/07/blue-wave-nah-dont-bet-on-it.html

Blue Wave? Nah. Don't Bet On It

All demonstrations, and all reason considered, some of the talking heads are predicting a huge Democratic win in 2014. You watch. We will be sorely disappointed. We may make a few gains here and there, but I doubt we're coming anywhere near taking the House or gaining a super-majority in the Senate. A lot of noise, a lot of reason, a lot of heroic effort. This country is NOT ready to move forward in any meaningful way. The GOP will have a very hard time making the argument that will gain them the White House, but their power base in Congress is a lock for the next 14-20 years. They have donors to pay off, and those donors WILL be paid off.
Expect huge rollbacks in women's rights. Continuing transfer of jobs out of the country, slashed wages here, and wealth coagulating to the 1%ers. Deregulation. Christian dominance. Larger outlays to the DoD and the arms industry. AHA will be compromised away into nothing but a gift to profitable "health" corporations.Cutbacks in social programs across the board. Civil rights protections becoming more of a distant memory. Privatization of education, prisons, welfare, transportation, water, hell ALL of our infrastructure. Deepwater Horizon will be a distant memory as we watch the environment get bombarded on  a daily basis, and convince ourselves that it's all worth it, and those corporations are doing a good job, and really know more about what they're doing than we do. They have our best interests in mind. It's going to be a nightmare.

NCAA Football Champions

This year's winner of the Championship game will not be Youngstown State. Or Thiel. Or Westminister. I have no idea who it will be. I don't even know who's in the running. But I do know that by this time next year, I will likely not remember who did.

Update on Tip Controversy

I'm not sure how this is going to shake out. Something stinks, and I'm still not convinced from whom.

http://wildassguesses.blogspot.com/2013/11/non-tipping-homophobe.html

Family's response:

I'm not convinced either way, for either side. Someone sucks, either way.

Snowfall

So, I told Suziema last night, the snow is over. We may get a flurry or two, lake effect, but nothing much. Today? 2 inches +. And still coming down. You can take that for it's worth for my predictive abilities. (I really should research this shit..)

Sylvia Brown, Fraud, Con is Dead

Watch her books and videos fly off the shelves. Her survivors will live very well from her theft. This may be the best career move she had left.

THIS is Our Future

This one isn't even a "wild ass guess". This is our future.

http://www.politicususa.com/2013/11/21/gop-unrepentantly-evil.html

Forget my earlier predictions about the mid-terms. The GOP and their religious and corporate overlords are going to rape us again. And enough people are going to roll over and take it. We're screwed.

Speaking of Prognosticators

http://www.tmz.com/2013/11/20/sylvia-browne-world-famous-psychic-dead/

"Say nothing but good of the dead." She's dead. Good.

She lived long and better than she deserved.

James Van Praagh hasn't looked very healthy in awhile. A little luck, we'll get a
twofer". Jonathan Edward in a car crash? It would make for a year of justice. Too much to ask.

Dr. Ben Carson

Dr. Ben Carson is coming to Youngstown State to give a lecture. Eighty percent of his comments will be one hundred percent lies. The other twenty percent will be a mix of half truths and pointed propaganda. If anyone is going, ask him to break down the true effect of flat taxes.

Carson says progressives leads to fascism.

Idiot Savant. I think this guy has his number:

Non-tipping Homophobe

http://wogpnews.blogspot.com/2013/11/customer-refuses-to-pay-gay-server-tip.html?spref=fb

The customer of the story above will become known within the next few days and will have hellfire poured down on them on the internet. And, one would hope, their personal life.

Paul Simon Was Right

Everything put together will fall apart, someday. But you already knew that.

"World without end, amen", my ass.

Macgillycuddy's Reeks

Tomorrow's (Friday, Nov. 15th)NASDAQ: up 37 points.
DOW: down 11 points.

Why? Because.

Not bad. Not great. About what a psychic could do. But I'll let you in on a secret. It was all just a ruse to post a Zevon song...And now, I'm going to send this to FaceBook as an update so you can enjoy the song once more!

Readership

Readership of this blog has dropped off already. I predict this trend to continue.

Next Ten Years

The world, and the human race will continue. Many prognosticators of the delusional bent will disagree.

TV News Distraction Alert

Asshats on TV news will waste much valuable time in the next week over this:
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2013/11/14/jesus-reborn-on-kickstarter-in-dark-chocolate/

Celebrity Deaths

At least 20 "famous" people will die in the next two weeks. (Some of these are going to be easy.)
Update 3:01PM:
I will have heard of 5 of them, tops.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_in_2013

I just went through the last month and a half here and knew maybe ten names...

"Off" and "On"

Anyone can have an "off" day. I will have very few "on" days in the coming year.

Minimum Wage

President Obama's proposed minimum wage increase to $10.10/hr with tipped wages being 70% of that is grossly inadequate, considering productivity increases, inflation, livability,  and corporate profits. But even that will be decried as radical and damaging to "job growth". There will be an increase in the minimum wage in 2014. But it will be more in the fifty cents to a dollar range. And politicians on both sides will hail it as "progress", and "help to the working man". The numbers of working poor will continue to rise.

Rhino Virus

I have a sinus/chest cold. It started November 5th. It will last until deep into January or longer. This winter will be hell.

Intro

Just a little idea I had.
What would my “hit” rate be if I took random and wide ranging guesses, some somewhat educated, others not so much on what will happen. Personally, or in the political sphere, historically, regarding entertainment or pop culture, business/finance, anything that struck my fancy for whatever reason. Long term, short term, micro-term. Locally, nationally, globally, cosmologically.
Pundits and business reporters do it all the time, and they have scholarship or expertise on their side, or are expected to in some degree. Seldom are their guesses or predictions reviewed. Jon Stewart’s take-down of his old friend Jim Cramer comes to mind as an exception.
This is different in that I claim no scholarship, no research (or no real research), no expertise, nothing but a gut feeling of where things appear to be going. Just the way they seem to me. Personally.
This is a passing idea of mine, a lark, really. I’m not even sure how to “flesh it out”, or how to begin, or where to go, or what the rules will be. I hope these all develop and evolve as I go forward.
Any post I make will have a time stamp on it. I can edit, but I mean to edit only for typos, or to comment or expand on a thought, and should (when I remember) put a date and time on the edits.
That’s about it. That’s the whole of the idea. Only one way to find out. And that’s to begin.

2014-Democrats will take a stronger control of the Senate, and will narrow their deficit in the House, if not take the majority. Hillary Clinton will be making more moves to ready herself to jump into the presidential election of 2016. With prodding from supporters, Elizabeth Warren will still refuse to throw her hat in the ring. Her Senate career and reputation will flourish.

The ACA, or “Obamacare” will still be on shaky ground going into the election cycle. Ultimately (no time schedule) it will either succeed, or evolve into universal, single-payer health care.

And…that’s enough for tonight (this morning).
See? Nothing much. Easy enough to predict that my predictions will lean toward my liberal side and may just dive into pitiful wish-fulfillment. So be it. I hope to have some surprises here and there. Not all is politics. We’ll see how it goes.

I can’t guarantee frequency of posts, but I’ll try to stay up on this as time allows. And I’ll keep you updated by way of FaceBook.

Thanks for peeking in.
PS: For in depth analysis, I predict that you're going to want to go elsewhere.
