The Future Senate

Well, my political predictions got slaughtered this cycle. You can assume my predictions are a worthless waste of time. I could not argue.
That being said, what the hell. Here's another one for you...

The political repercussions from this race are not even finished yet. A lot of Democrats that stood with Hillary are going to have some pissed off people in their own party. If you think we lost the Senate this time, look at the shellacking we will take in two years. It's a GOP country for as far out as you can imagine. Hillary's run just killed liberal politics for a long, long time.
We may be looking at less than 30 Democratic Senators before the end of this decade.

FOX News Billy Bush

Two months, tops. Billy Bush will be on FOX news in some capacity.
I had no idea who this guy was until the Trump bus tapes story broke. He's going to monetize this way above his talents and value.

"Their Rapists"

I still insist that Trump was misquoted when we thought he said Mexico was sending "Their rapists". He has no problem with rapists. He's nuts. What scares the hell out of him is THERAPISTS.

Trump the Pussy

Awaiting Trump's video response to the news today. He will apologize profusely in some sort of non-apology Trumpspeak.
He will NOT step down from the presidential race. Not tonight. But the deal is in the works. There's no way he's going to survive this.

Next up? The imminently insane Mike Pence for POTUS.

BTW, lucky enough for FOX News, Hurricane Matthew is tearing up the East coast so they can avoid reporting that another FOX hero foisted on the American public is going down in flames. For now. Tomorrow, they'll have a spin on it. Tonight? They just sweat bullets in spin rooms.

Sean Hannity has to be glad that the hurricane bumped him off the air tonight. Let's tally it up. He trumpeted the Bundy clan, Michele Bachmann, Louis Gohmert, Sarah Palin. Anyone else? Oh yeah. Ben Carson. Every loony-toon right-wing fascist idiot of the past 20 years was promoted to the hilt by this guy, all soon to be laughingstocks and national embarrassments. His record is intact.
Trump is out. The writing is on the wall. It may take a few days to sort out, but it's a done deal. The REAL fun now is what must be going on in the back rooms between the camps of two truly insane power-mad idiots trying to make their case for which gets to take the mantle of candidate. Ted Cruz or Mike Pence. No one could have written a trashier, more satisfying political dime thriller.

Hillary's Cannabis Conundrum

Word has it that Hillary wants to take a harsher federal stance against the use of marijuana. If this is true, I predict she will soften the rhetoric about it, or hide it, or try to thread the political needle on the issue. She  has barely over 30 days  to parse her stance, and she's going to feel the heat of the backlash from this.
Jill Stein and Bernie were absolutely clear on the issue. We won't be able to expect the same from Hillary.

Population and Dr. Borlaug

Consider the warnings of Norman Borlaug:
"The green revolution has won a temporary success in man's war against hunger and deprivation; it has given man a breathing space. If fully implemented, the revolution can provide sufficient food for sustenance during the next three decades. But the frightening power of human reproduction must also be curbed; otherwise the success of the green revolution will be ephemeral only. Most people still fail to comprehend the magnitude and menace of the "Population Monster"...Since man is potentially a rational being, however, I am confident that within the next two decades he will recognize the self-destructive course he steers along the road of irresponsible population growth..."
Technology and progress can buy some time, but it can't solve the coming crisis. There's just too damn many people. Until we solve that problem, all other problems are inconsequential.
By the way, the quote is from his Nobel Peace Prize speech in 1970. I think we're seeing the affects today, the ones he warned about 46 years ago. We haven't begun to address the problem, and the situation will accelerate in seriousness.

Thirty-Five Percent

Trump has a floor of around 35%, which is about all he's going to get. Hillary is going to win with over 53%. That's about the gist of it. That being said, I'm voting for Jill, though I know it's a done deal. Unless something big happens, Hillary gets forced out, and Bernie becomes the nominee. (Highly unlikely, but possible).
But there's going to be 35% of people in this country going to vote for Trump. That thought ought to scare the hell out of you. Even after he loses. I mean, those people are still here. Tens of millions.

Four Years From Now

Hillary is going to win the 2016 race by a landslide, and it will not be good for us. It will be less awful than if Trump were to win, but we're not going to understand the harm being done to us.

But, that's not the point of this predictive post.

It's going to be a landslide, but not one proportional enough to dissuade the ultra-right of this country from trying again. And again. The GOP in 2020 is going to think that they didn't have a candidate stupid enough, fascist enough, insane enough to win in 2016. They're going to have a pack of rabid dogs running in four years that would make a Louie Gohmert/ Sarah Palin ticket look like Rhodes Scholars. I don't know where they're going to find them, but they will.

Hillary's Pyrrhic Presidency

If Hillary has the DNC locked up, why are all her supporters "punching down" so hard on Bernie? You're making Philly shape up into a real shit-show. Do you want it to look like Chicago, '68? We picked a lousy candidate, and she just killed the deal with Kaine.
Threaten us with President Trump? It looks like it was her choosing.
President Clinton will be a Pyrrhic victory at best. She's going to drastically shrink the party, and there's going to be VERY bad feelings about this for a long, long time.

She should give it up and throw her support to Bernie. It's the only way to save the party.

Nancy Grace Out at CNN

A step in the right direction. (We'll take what we can).

Less than two months and we'll see her on Fox News. It's where ignorance gets a second life.

RNC Surprise!

There is a chance that even with all the pledged delegates and more than he needs to clinch the nomination, that something is going to happen before, or at, the convention in Cleveland to the Donald's coronation. Overwhelming "buyer's remorse" is going to cause many to try to force his hand to quit the race.

Clinton v. Trump

It's a done deal. We lost the public relations battle in Nevada. Right or wrong, our people screwed the pooch. This cannot be fixed. Tactical catastrophe.

The Americans: Gaad

"Tuesday, February 24, 2015

The Americans (TV), You Heard It Here First

Gaad is a mole. You watch."

Damn. Got that one wrong.

Edited a little later:

Maybe not. Watch this space.

I Give Up. Time to Recognize the Obvious.

I underestimated the power of the Trump tsunami, and the gullibility, the massive stupidity, of the average American.

The thugs and the fascists aren't concerned with the niceties of window dressing anymore. And they've sucked the air out of any chance for a Kasich rally. Or a Cruz, or Rubio one, for that matter.

It's a done deal for the GOP. It's not going to be a three man race. It's going to be Trump. God help us all. (Let me clue you in. There is no god. There is no help.) By this time next week, the deal will be done. (It already is.)

I'm still pulling for Bernie on the Dem side. But it's going to be Hillary. Can't live in dreams any more.

Ultimately, though, I think we will get the President we deserve. And the House and Senate (and state legislatures) to go with it... Sorry, folks. It looks more and more like President Donald J. Trump.

If I had any advice for the rest of the world after November, it would be to quarantine the United States until we come to our senses.

As for the USA, I recommend heavy medication.

In the Wake of New Hampshire

Chris Christie just gave a speech that did not specifically say, but sounded a lot like, the speech one makes when they're ready to give up. He will announce that he's "suspending" his campaign within the next four days.
Carly Fiorino will announce that she's done within a day or two, or she's even dumber than we all know her to be.
Santorum is finished. Is Pataki still running?
It's down to the final GOP six, going into the pre-show of Nevada and South Carolina. We are all still shocked that the air hasn't gone out of the wind-bag that is "The Donald". Ted Cruz will get a short-lived blast from South Carolina by finishing top 3. Third, I think. Jeb! is going to feel the pressure to give it up after he shows in 5th. Trump will still carry the day in SC, but not by as much as he's used to.
Ben Carson is still hanging around because he thinks he's going to gain traction in SC. He won't. His numbers will be so bad that even he has to realize his fantasy is over.
It's going to be 1.Trump 2. Kasich (in a surprisingly strong showing) 3. Cruz three or four points behind Kasich And a distant 4th for Rubio (and the end of his dreams). Jeb! will come in close behind Rubio  with Carson dead last barely polling in real numbers.

No matter who decides not to drop out, it will be a three man race in real terms by Super Tuesday. Cruz, Trump, and Kasich.

I said it a long time ago. Kasich is going to be the nominee.

"Have you ever met a dumb cop?" If you don't get the reference, you will hear it a fuck-ton going into November.

For the Dems? Bernie all the way, baby!!! Check the calendar for the primaries. Hillary may hang in for the big ones (Texas, California, New York), but her strengths there will vanish.
The wild cards are Trump's staying power (ephemeral) and Bloomberg or another spoiler getting in. Even then, I predict we know better, and are ready for President Bernie Sanders. (It's a long way away, and anything can happen...)

In Review:
I give myself a pretty good score, so far. There were some surprises. Trump's staying power. Walker dropping out so early. The failure-to-launch of Jeb! Paul's departure.
But I nailed Kasich before most thought him viable, had Bernie, and called the failure of Christie.
Watch this space.

BTW. This post was from January 9th. Two thousand FOURTEEN...For all you doubters...:
